Peters Family Dominates CB Cox Stakes 2011 Field

December 5th, 2011

Owner breeders Bob and Sandra Peters are set to have an unbelievable five runners in the Group 2 CB Cox Stakes at Ascot Racecourse this Saturday December 17, 2011.

Their four Kingston Town Classic runners, Ranger, Battle Emblem, Tranquility and Lords Ransom will run in the 2011 CB Cox Stakes, while Western Jewel may also join the field.

Ranger is in a good position to win the 2011 CB Cox Stakes after finishing second in the Kingston Town Classic behind Playing God after being held up from the 550 metres to 250 metre mark.

“The four will go on to the Cox and we’ll take it one week at a time after that,” Peters said.

“I’m not sure whether Ranger would go to the cup with his high rating.

“Battle Emblem was a big run. He was a head away from third in a Group 1 at weight-for-age and he’s coming along nice.”

Western Jewel is expected to run in the 2011 CB Cox Stakes, however, Knightlike will be spelled after finishing 14 of 15 runners in the JRA Trophy.

“I thought Western Jewel and Knightlike were disappointing,” Peters said.

“Once you get those barriers (14 and 13 respectively) and go back it’s hard to run on. Western Jewel will go on.

“Knightlike is all right but he’s not running well enough to get into the cup.

“He probably had to win one of these lead-ups.”
