2016 CB Cox Stakes Tips and Betting Preview

December 16th, 2016

Thirteen runners remain in contention for Saturday’s featured 2016 Group 2 CB Cox Stakes (2100m) at Perth’s Ascot Racecourse; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.

Perfect Reflection has returned to racing in typically slick form this season and remains a clear $2.90 favourite in 2016 CB Cox Stakes betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Neverland ($7.50) and Tradesman ($8).

Will Perfect Reflection justify favouritism and return to winning form in the CB Cox Stakes, or will one of her rivals post an upset?

1st

Perfect Reflection ($2.90)

Perfect Reflection is undoubtedly the class horse of the 2016 CB Cox Stakes field and should just win the feature race at Ascot on Saturday. A Group 1 winner having taken out last year’s edition of the Kingston Town Classic (1800m), the More Than Ready mare resumed this time for third in the Group 3 Northerly Stake (1400m), before returning to winning form in the Group 2 Lee Steere Stakes (1400m) on November 5th. Having since placed third in each of the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) and the Kingston Town Classic, Perfect Reflection will be partnered by leading Perth hoop William Pike in the CB Cox Stakes and will carry a race-low 56kgs.

2nd

Respondent ($10)

Consistent performer Respondent has posted a number of good results through three starts this time and is a leading chance of a first three finish in the CB Cox Stakes. Running third in the Group 3 Asian Beau Stakes (1400m) first-up on October 29th, the Haradasun gelding failed to handle the late pace in the Group 3 RJ Peters Stakes (1500m) on November 12th, but returned to winning form in the Listed Tattersall’s Cup (2100m) last time out on November 26th.

3rd

Neverland ($6)

Neverland is yet to return to winning form this campaign, but the mare has been extremely consistent and will relish a step up to 2100m in the CB Cox Stakes. Finishing mid-pack in each of her first three starts this time in, the daughter of Big Brown was caught wide in the Railway Stakes on November 19th, but charged home to finish a credible fifth in the Kingston Town Classic a fortnight ago. Neverland is drawn ideally in barrier 2, will be partnered by Peter Hall and will carry only 57kgs in the CB Cox Stakes.
